ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan is set to distribute a Ramadan Relief Package worth over Rs20 billion this year, bringing a sigh of relief to millions of Pakistanis.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has shared some important instructions with the IT ministry on how to ensure this package is implemented effectively; it will be distributed through a new helpline coded “9999.”
This helpline will confirm messages concerning the relief program and those who apply can have their identity card details verified by the Ministry of Information Technology against their cellphone numbers.
A control room will be established at the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) to monitor the entire operation.
The next federal cabinet meeting will discuss the package aimed at providing funds to help 3.9 million families. This year’s distributions will not include the utility store; hence, this marks a huge change in the method of providing relief.
This assistance package is in continuation of the government’s series of measures to support citizens in need all over Ramadan, and it is a good initiative to help the needy in the month of Ramadan.
