ISLAMABAD: The National Savings (Qaumi Bachat Bank) has so far not announced any update on the rate of return on Behbood Savings Certificates (BSCs) at 15.36% till September 2024.
It offers investors a constant monthly return of Rs 1,280 for every Rs 100,000 invested, making the scheme a reliable option for those looking for a steady income.
Launched in 2003, Behbood Savings Certificates were initially introduced to provide financial assistance to widows and senior citizens. In 2004, the scheme was expanded to include persons with disabilities and special minors, allowing their guardians to invest on their behalf. The program has since become a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to ensure a secure financial future for these vulnerable groups.
Behbood Savings Certificates (BSCs) are available in denominations ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 1,000,000, with monthly profit distribution from the date of purchase. Investment limits are set at a maximum of Rs 7.5 million for individual investors and Rs 15 million for joint investors, offering flexibility to those looking to secure their savings.

The certificates are available for purchase by:
- – Senior citizens aged 60 or above
- – Single widows who have not remarried
- – Joint accounts of eligible individuals
- – Disabled persons with a National Identity Card (NIC) displaying the disability logo, and special minors through their guardians
Behbood Savings Certificates benefits
An important advantage of Behbood Savings Certificates is that the profits earned are exempt from withholding tax and levy of Zakat. These tax exemptions, combined with attractive rates of return, make BSCs a favorite choice among qualified investors.
The continued maintenance of 15.36% rate of return on welfare savings certificates highlights the scheme’s continued appeal as a safe and profitable investment option, especially for senior citizens, widows and the disabled.
