ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued its written judgment on the intra-court appeals filed against the military trial.
According to reports, the constitution bench had accepted the intra-court appeals on May 7, setting aside the earlier five-judge verdict that had quashed the military trial.
Justice Aminuddin Khan wrote the 68-page judgment, to which Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar added a 47-page supplementary note, which was endorsed by Justices Amin, Hassan Rizvi, Mussrat Hilali and Shahid Bilal. Justice Jamal Mandokhel and Justice Naeem Afghan wrote dissenting notes.
The judgment allowed the military trial, granting the convicts the right to appeal. The court also directed the government to enact legislation within 45 days to ensure this right of appeal.
