MUZAFFARABAD: In a significant move reflecting the escalating regional tensions, the Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has ordered immediate closure of all government and private schools across the region due to the escalating Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to an official notification issued by the AJK Education Department, all educational institutions will remain closed until further notice. The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing security situation and to ensure the safety of students, teachers and school staff.
The notification said, “The safety of our children is paramount. In light of the ongoing hostilities across the border, this step has become necessary.”
The authorities have urged parents and school administrations to stay updated through official channels for further instructions. The department stressed that reopening will be considered only when the situation stabilizes and it is deemed safe for students to return to classrooms.
This sudden suspension of educational activities has disrupted the schooling of thousands of students in the area, many of whom were in the midst of exam preparations.
Education officials are expected to announce alternative plans to reschedule classes and assessments if the closures persist.
