BANNU: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Sunday imposed Section 144 for seven days in the Bannu district ahead of the anti-polio campaign starting tomorrow.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Hameed issued the notification, imposing restrictions across the district for seven days with immediate effect.
The restrictions include a ban on carrying weapons, double riding on motorcycles, and the use of tinted vehicle windows. The Deputy Commissioner further warned that strict action will be taken against those violating the restrictions.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is set to launch an anti-polio campaign on December 16 amid challenges of vaccination refusal, missed targets, fake finger marking, and lack of support by the district administrations and district health officers.
The province is home to around 7.3 million children of the countrywide 44m population aged below five and is facing chronic challenges posed by non-vaccination of less than one per cent of the total target population, according to health officials.
