KARACHI: Sindh’s private and public schools resumed classes today (August 15) following an extended summer vacation of two months and 14 days. The provincial government had extended the break until August 14, with the summer holidays initially scheduled from June 1 to July 31.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah advised students to concentrate on their studies and encouraged teachers to fulfill their duties with integrity. He highlighted that merit-based teacher recruitment has enhanced the education system.
Additionally, Minister Shah noted that Sindh has introduced a teacher licensing policy and other reforms in the country. This initiative aims to set new standards for educational excellence.
Last year, the Sindh government implemented a teaching license policy to encourage skilled professionals, marking what the minister described as “revolutionary steps” in educational reform.
Moreover, the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has approved the start of the new academic year in August 2024, changing from the previous schedule.
According to a notification issued in February, the new academic year 2024-25 will begin on August 1, 2024, rather than the originally planned April 1, 2024.
