Snowfall persists in mountainous areas, Siberian winds grip Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Intermittent snowfall continues in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, tourists headed to the Lowari Tunnel to enjoy the snowfall.

Light rain fell in various places in Abbottabad and Galiyat, due to which a significant drop in temperature was observed; the intensity of cold also increased, while clouds also fell in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar.

The valleys in the upper areas of Neelum Valley were covered with snow, and intermittent snowfall continues in Upper Neelum, Urang Keel, and other areas.

Meanwhile, snowfall has continued in the upper areas of Chilas since last night, due to which the intensity of cold has further increased.

A new system of Siberian winds has entered the northeastern and central areas of Balochistan, due to which the intensity of cold is expected to increase further.

Snowfall has occurred in the northern upper areas of Balochistan.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Kalat was minus one degree, and in Quetta it was 2 degrees.

The Meteorological Department has warned that the intensity of cold is likely to increase in the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan in the next few days.

The Chief Meteorologist of Sindh says that the temperature is expected to decrease in Karachi from tomorrow, and the first two weeks of January will be cold in the city.
