Solar panel latest prices in Pakistan for April 2025

Solar buyers hit by price hike before budget day

ISLAMABAD: Solar panel prices in Pakistan have come down as the government plans to slash net metering rates on a large scale.

According to details, uncertainty has gripped the solar industry in Pakistan after the government plans to slash buyback rates on a large scale.

Solar panel prices in Hyderabad and other areas of Sindh have been recorded at 25 percent.

The price of a Grade-A 585-watt solar panel, which was earlier sold for Rs. 22,000, has now come down to around Rs. 16,500

The move to reduce buyback rates with the aim of promoting the use of renewable energy is now being reflected in a significant decline in solar panel prices in the market.

Last month, the Solar Association strongly opposed the government’s decision to reduce solar net metering rates, calling it a detrimental move for the solar sector.

During a press conference, Solar Association Chairman Adil Mahmood criticized the government’s decision to reduce solar energy tariffs, saying it undermines years of investment and efforts to promote solar energy in Pakistan.

Adil Mahmood highlighted that the government, including the president and prime minister, had earlier encouraged solar investment but have now taken a “U-turn” on their promises.
