ISLAMABAD: The post-mortem of Islamabad Police officer SP Adeel Akbar has been completed, suffering severe brain damage after being hit by a bullet, which resulted in his death.
According to the post-mortem completed at PIMS Hospital, Adeel Akbar was hit by a bullet that entered the front of his head and exited from the back.
The Medical Laboratory Officer (MLO) of PIMS Hospital has completed the post-mortem details and provided the initial report to the police, after which the body was handed over to the relatives.
According to police sources, Adeel Akbar allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself yesterday after taking a pistol from a fellow officer.
Adeel Akbar belonged to Gujarat and was also the topper of the 46th Common of CSS. He was the father of a young daughter.
After the incident, the Islamabad Police had immediately launched an investigation to examine all aspects of the incident.
After the body was handed over, the funeral prayers of SP Adeel Akbar were offered at the Police Lines, in which his family and fellow officers participated.
Senior police officials expressed grief over the incident and said that more details would be revealed after the investigation is completed.
