Tandoor owners warn of strike amid pricing dispute

LAHORE: The clash between the Naanbai Association and the Punjab Food Department regarding prices of roti and naan still persists, as tandoor owners warn they might stop their businesses if any other price is fixed without consultations.

According to sources, a meeting was announced by the Naanbai Association for Saturday, where they would be discussing the problem of pricing. It is expected that after the meeting, revised prices for roti and naan will be announced by the association.

According to sources from the association, the prices of roti and naan have been decided by the association members as Rs. 25 for roti and Rs. 35 for naan. They warned that in case the government tries to impose some other prices, the tandoor owners might close down their shops.

According to sources, the Punjab government has not decided about fixing the revised prices of roti and naan officially yet. It is expected that the result of the meeting held on Saturday would affect the future decision of the association.

As far as both parties are concerned, they have not reached any conclusion regarding the revised prices yet. Consumers and tandoor owners are now waiting for the results of Saturday’s meeting.
