Transporters announce strike across twin cities tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Transporters have announced a strike against the amended Transport Ordinance and heavy fines for violations of traffic rules.

At the same time, transporters of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad also announced their support for the wheel jam strike on December 8. According to the Chairman United Transport Association, all the bus stands will remain closed tomorrow (Monday).

He said that the transporters’ strike will be held across Punjab, and it is possible that this strike will continue for an indefinite period. The government should understand the problems of transporters. It is unfair to impose a fine of Rs 2,000 on a motorcyclist who earns Rs 25,000.

Goods transporters have also announced their support for the strike of the Pakistan United Transporters Action Committee.

Leaders of transporters announced a complete closure of all terminals on 8th December. They said the new laws and fines introduced by the Punjab Assembly were condemnable.

And this is an unnecessary burden on transporters. The leaders called for an amendment to the laws to be implemented by transporters.
