DADU: In a turn of events, a case has been filed against two individuals for the murder of an Indus dolphin, a rare species known as the “Queen of the Indus River” under the Sindh Wildlife Protection Act 2020
The dead body of the Indus dolphin, which had wandered into the Dadu Canal, was discovered a few kilometers distant from the Phakka Distributary, also called Amb Mori.
The criminals took the Indus dolphin out of the canal two days ago, took pictures, and posted them to social media, according to Sindh Wildlife Conservator Javed Mahar. The dolphin died as a result of this action since its skin dried out.
The Sindh Wildlife Department team in Dadu investigated the scene after receiving reports, collected proof, and launched a hunt for the dolphin. Sadly, the deceased dolphin was discovered close to the settlement of Gulan Panhor, around 8 kilometers away.
According to animal protection legislation, the accused are now facing accusations that could result in a fine of PKR 750,000 and five years in prison. The Dadu District and Sessions Court will host the trial in this regard.
