UAE Deputy Prime Minister arrives in Islamabad to boost trade & investment

Ishaq Dar receives UAE Deputy Prime Minister

ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Islamabad on Sunday where he will discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, including trade and investment.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received his counterpart in Islamabad.

The statement added that “he is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.”

During his official visit from April 20 to April 21, UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah will hold talks with his counterpart Dar and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, covering all aspects of bilateral relations.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the meeting will focus on trade and investment, energy cooperation, regional security and people-to-people contacts.

“The high-level visit reflects the deep, brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, and highlights the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest,” the FO said in a statement.

The visit will also provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss regional and global developments of mutual interest and concern.

During his time in Pakistan, the esteemed Prime Minister of the UAE, Shahbaz Sharif, will also meet with the two leaders “reaffirming the shared vision for peace and prosperity in the region.”

“The visit will further strengthen the long-standing relations between Pakistan and the UAE and help deepen bilateral ties in diverse areas, benefiting the people of both countries,” read a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sheikh Abdullah’s visit follows the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan in February, during which the two countries signed five agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including banking, railways, mining and infrastructure investment.

Pakistan and the UAE have a rich history of bilateral relations spanning multiple sectors and domains, with a large number of Pakistanis residing and working in the Gulf country, which recently enabled Pakistani citizens to obtain five-year visas.
