ISLAMABAD: The Utility Stores Joint Action Committee said that employees from all across Pakistan are reaching the capital to join the protest. The committee has stated that the sit-in will go on until their demands are fulfilled.
In a statement filled with conviction, the committee stated that closing Utility Stores would mean leaving 260 million people at the mercy of the “mafias of inflation.”
Workers in workers are congregating outside the USC headquarters and will hold a march towards the Parliament House today, the committee further added.
Joint Action Committee Chairman Syed Arif Hussain Shah warned that the closing of Utility Stores will unleash a new wave of inflation and make thousands of families unemployed. He further added that the move also defies national laws.
We will not relinquish our legal rights,” the committee declared, inviting the President of Pakistan and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of what they referred to as an “illegal” step by the government.
The protest is likely to escalate if the government does not reverse the decision.
