HARARE: Pakistan Under-19 cricket team’s opening batsman Sameer Minhas has created history in youth One-Day cricket by breaking the world record for the fastest century.
In the final of the ODI tri-series played between Pakistan Under-19 and hosts Zimbabwe Under-19 in Harare on Tuesday, Sameer Minhas showed brilliant batting and completed his century in just 42 balls, which was declared the fastest century in the history of Under-19 One-Day cricket.
Earlier, this record was held by Indian player Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a century in 52 balls against England in July last year.
Sameer broke this record ten balls earlier and set a new world milestone.
In the final, Sameer Minhas played an aggressive innings of 114 runs in 51 balls, which included 17 fours and 5 sixes.
Thanks to his brilliant batting, Pakistan U-19 easily achieved the target of 159 runs set by Zimbabwe U-19 for the loss of just one wicket.
As a result of this memorable performance by Minhas, Pakistan U-19 won the ODI Tri-series, while the young opener’s innings is being considered as one of the best innings in the history of U-19 cricket.
