Tri-nation series to continue despite Afghanistan’s withdrawal: PCB

PCB grants NOCs to several Pakistani cricketers for overseas leagues

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)  has said that the tri-nation T20 series will take place as per its schedule.

The PCB will replace the withdrawn Afghanistan with another team and conduct the series as per the series schedule.

Sources say that the names of various countries are under consideration for the third team, and a decision will be taken in this regard very soon.

Earlier, Afghanistan also followed in India’s footsteps and refused to participate in the tri-nation series to be held in Pakistan.

A statement issued by the Afghan Cricket Board said that due to the recent tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the matches with Pakistan have been canceled.

It should be noted that the tri-nation series was to be played between the teams of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.

The first match of the tri-nation series was scheduled to be played between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Rawalpindi on November 17, followed by a match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Rawalpindi on November 19.

The remaining five matches were to be played in Lahore, while the final was scheduled for November 29 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
