ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistani captain and renowned fast bowler Wasim Akram has expressed his anger over the media running his picture after the arrest of an alleged Pakistani spy in Haryana, India. Wasim Akram says that defaming someone without verification is a highly irresponsible act.
According to details, on October 2, a YouTuber Wasim Akram was arrested in the Indian state of Haryana on charges of allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). According to Indian police, the man had been in contact with Pakistani agents for three years and was providing them with various information, including SIM cards.
Due to the accused’s name being Wasim Akram, several Indian media channels and social media users used pictures of former cricketer Wasim Akram, to which the former captain expressed his anger through a video message.
Wasim Akram said: “Nowadays, everyone is on social media. I am giving you a free advice that if you are that smart, then double check. Some spy’s name is Wasim Akram and you are posting my pictures! Brother, is there any check and balance?”
