Islamabad weather: Light rainfall to lash federal capital

ISLAMABAD: The citizens of the Federal City experienced moderate to heavy rainfall in the early morning. The rain pour resulted in lowering the temperatures making the weather pleasent.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted intermittent monsoon rains and winds for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Pakistan.

The maximum temperatures anticipated today range up to 32 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature expected is 24 degrees Celsius.

The humidity levels range up to 85%, whereas the wind is moving in the northwest direction at the speed of 34 km/h.

Moreover, PMD forecasts a 66 percent chance of rain in the next 24 hours with occasional gaps. This new monsoon spell will continue from August 15 to 18.

Earlier, NDMA issued a flood alert in Islamabad, requesting the residents to watch out before going out.

Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are affecting the upper regions of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is influencing the weather conditions.

The same weather patterns are anticipated, with additional intermittent rains and gusty winds in the twin cities, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, and northeast Balochistan. Isolated heavy rainfall may occur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir, and northeast Balochistan.
