Lahore weather: Intermittent rain, windstorm expected in provincial capital

Rain forecast for upper Pakistan, heatwave to persist in South

LAHORE: Intermittent rains and windstorms are expected in Lahore and other areas of Punjab on Friday evening and during the weekend, providing relief to the residents.

Moist currents from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea invade the upper and middle areas of Pakistan, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). A westerly wave will most likely approach the upper reaches of the country tonight.

Isolated rain and windstorms are probable in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Lahore on Friday evening.

Intermittent rain and windstorms are probable on Saturday and Sunday in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, and LahoreMultan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan are also expected to experience windstorms.

Lahorehighest temperature will remain at 41°C to 43°C on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Hot and humid conditions dominated most areas of the province in the last 24 hours.

Bhakkar was the hottest city in Punjab, where the maximum temperature reached 48°C. The maximum temperature in Attock and Dera Ghazi Khan was 45°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 45 per cent.
