LAHORE: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert of heavy rains in most districts of Punjab from today.
According to PDMA Punjab, the 10th spell of monsoon rains will continue till September 9.
Rains are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Gulyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Lahore.
Rains are likely in Narowal, Hafizabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, and Mianwali.
In addition, rains are also likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Rajanpur.
Flash flooding is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rud Kohiya during September 6-9.
DG Irfan Ali Kathia says that the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers are facing a flood situation.
Due to monsoon rains in big cities, rivers and canals may overflow. Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and other officers are on alert.
An alert has been issued to the Health, Irrigation, Construction and Communications Departments, Local Government, and Livestock.
In a recent development, Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said that while some information was shared, it was not as detailed as in the past, and the channel established by the Indus Water Commissioner was not used.
He reiterated that India should fully abide by the Indus Waters Treaty.
