ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and hail in various parts of the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of wind and thunderstorms in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Wind and thunderstorms are expected in Dir, Swat, Malam Jabba, Kohistan and Bajaur, while rain has also been forecast in Kalam, Chitral, Buner, Kohat, Abbottabad and Peshawar.
Similarly, rain with wind has been predicted in Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Parachinar, Kurram and Waziristan. The Meteorological Department says that heavy rain and hail may also occur in some places in the upper districts of the province during the rain.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather and take precautionary measures.
On the other hand, the NDMA has issued an alert in view of severe weather conditions across the country from May 26 to 31. Due to rains in the upper areas, increase in temperature and rapid melting of glaciers, the risks of flooding, landslides and glacial lake outbursts have increased.
Thunderstorms and hailstorms have been predicted in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh.
Rain is expected in many cities including Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Parachinar, Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta.
According to the NDMA, there is a risk of landslides and flooding in rivers and streams in mountainous areas including Hunza, Nagar, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Chitral, Dir, Swat and Kohistan, while fears of closure of important highways including the Karakoram Highway, Naran Road and Jaglot-Skardu Road have also been expressed.
