WASHINGTON: Former US President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally, which his followers described as an attack on the life of the Republican Party leader.
Fortunately, Trump is in good shape and has thanked his security staff and first responders.
Casualties
One person was killed, and two others were seriously injured, according to the Secret Service.
Attempted murder
The FBI, Secret Service and ATF are investigating the incident as attempted murder.
A high-altitude rifle
The Secret Service said the gunman used a rifle and opened fire from a vantage point outside the rally.
Biden says that there is no place for violence in America.
President Biden has spoken with the former president and is returning to Washington from Rehoboth Beach, Del. “This kind of violence has no place in America. It’s sick,” Biden said.

Messages of concern and support for Trump immediately came from top Democrats, Republicans and former presidents, all condemning political violence.
