DUBAI: Dubai has announced a new initiative to award golden visas to outstanding teachers in the private school sector, with the aim of recognizing the outstanding contribution teachers make to the city’s education landscape.
In a social media post on the occasion of International Teachers’ Day, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said, “We have decided to issue golden visas to educators who have demonstrated excellence in Dubai’s private education sector.”

“Your commitment to nurturing future leaders and instilling important values is invaluable. You are a key contributor to realizing Dubai’s ambitious education strategy E33 and shaping the future of our city,” he wrote.
According to the details, interested candidates can apply for the program from October 15.
It will be available to teachers working in early childhood centers, private schools, and international higher education institutions (HEIs).
Eligibility criteria for UAE Golden Visa
The eligibility criteria defined by Emirates authorities for Golden Visa include that the teacher must have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements and innovative contributions to the academic field.
Candidates need to have an advanced degree — such as a PhD, professional doctorate, or master’s degree — or hold a relevant professional qualification such as a CPA or professional fellowship.
Furthermore, the candidate must have a track record of enhancing the quality of education in his/her respective institutions and gaining positive recognition from the wider academic community.
Successful applicants must demonstrate measurable contributions to improving student outcomes, including academic progress and graduation rates.
Teachers must demonstrate measurable improvement in supporting key groups of students and receive formal nominations from the school’s board of governors. The nomination should highlight “exceptional leadership” and provide specific reasons for the nomination.
Who can apply?
School principals and leaders, Early Childhood Center (ECC) administrators, academic heads of higher education institutions, teachers (from schools and ECCs), full-time faculty, and senior administrative leaders in higher education institutions can apply for this program.
For principals, additional criteria include achieving a rating of “good” or better in the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau’s (DSIB) annual assessment and maintaining or improving that rating over time.
Principals should elicit positive feedback from students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders about their leadership and overall school climate.
Higher education educators should also demonstrate their research contributions, providing evidence of published work in leading journals, research grants, collaborations, consulting reports, or creative exhibitions.
In terms of professional excellence, teachers must be nominated by their principal, with approval and endorsement from the school’s board of governors.
They are also required to demonstrate student achievement in internal and external examinations and assessments. Positive feedback from students, parents, and school leadership regarding teacher performance is essential.
Here’s how to apply for Golden Visa
Schools, early childhood centers, and higher education institutions in Dubai can nominate eligible staff members who meet the established criteria for the Golden Visa program.
Candidates must provide several key documents, including:
- Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) school rating reports (for principals)
- Award certificates
- Survey results and testimonials from students and parents
- Staff testimonials (for principals, ECC managers, and academic heads)
- Evidence of community involvement
- Documentation demonstrating improved student outcomes
- Recommendation and nomination letters from the Board of Governors
Applications will be reviewed by a committee, which will send its recommendations to KHDA. It will then review the applications and liaise with the authorities concerned. Teachers who meet the eligibility criteria will be notified of the successful outcome of their applications.
