RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the customs regulations for the pilgrims coming to perform Hajj this year.
The authorities requested the pilgrims to declare cash or other assets exceeding SR 60,000 (approximately $16,000) upon entering or leaving the country.
The directions were issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to ensure that no illegal activities occur in the Hajj season.
The kingdom requests the pilgrims to submit a customs declaration ,which would help safeguard the traveller’s rights and follows the rule set in the Saudi Arabia.
Those who fail to comply with the requirement may face fines, legal action, or travel delays.
“This measure is part of an ongoing awareness initiative to ensure pilgrims have a secure, smooth, and legally compliant Hajj experience,” the ministry stated.
Earlier, the Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, received 305 pilgrims under the government-sponsored scheme started on Thursday.
Director General Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro, Chief Coordinator Hajj Operations Dr. Mirza Ali Mehsud, Director Makkah Azizullah Khan, Consul General Khalid Majeed, and Saudi officials were also present on the occasion.
