Cargo Ship heading to India hit by projectile in strait of hormuz
TEHRAN: Iran has claimed that the Revolutionary Guards have seized a cargo ship belonging to a US company in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian state media, the ship was stopped for allegedly violating maritime transit laws and regulations.
The report states that Revolutionary Guard units took action in the Strait of Hormuz and seized the ship.
Iranian officials say that at the time of the incident, four commercial ships under the supervision of the US military were trying to pass through this sensitive waterway, one of which was stopped while the other three ships turned back.
State media has also broadcast alleged video footage, which shows high-speed Iranian boats patrolling around a large commercial ship, however, the ownership of the ship, the cargo it is carrying and its flag could not be immediately clarified.
On the other hand, there has been no official response to this claim from the US government or US Central Command, while independent sources have also been unable to immediately confirm the incident.
