PM Shehbaz flies to Saudi Arabia for emergency talks

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Saudi Arabia on an emergency official visit of a few hours.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hassan Andrabi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is also accompanying the Prime Minister.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said during the weekly press briefing that Shehbaz Sharif will meet the Saudi Crown Prince during which the ongoing tension in the region and the regional security situation, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries, will be discussed.

According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia is of great importance. The Prime Minister’s visit is part of close bilateral consultations, contacts on issues related to peace and security in the region. Pakistan will continue its efforts for de-escalation of tensions in the region, ceasefire, negotiations and diplomacy.
