RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has decided to issue passports to millions of camels in the kingdom.

The aim of this project is to better manage and monitor Saudi Arabia’s valuable camel herds. According to the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, this project will increase productivity and overall performance in the camel sector.

The initiative will also create a comprehensive and reliable database related to camels. The Ministry of Environment has also shared an image of the camel passport.

The passport for camels is green in color, with the national emblem of Saudi Arabia and a picture of a camel in gold.

According to official data from the kingdom, the number of camels in 2024 was about 2.2 million. Camels have been an important means of transportation in the Arab world for centuries and are still considered a symbol of prestige and social status.
