US, Iran and regional mediators discuss possible 45-day ceasefire terms: US media

US imposes new sanctions on Iran's oil exports to China

TEHRAN: US media say that the US, Iran and a group of regional mediators are discussing possible 45-day ceasefire terms.

The US website claims from sources that the US, Iran and a group of regional mediators are discussing possible 45-day ceasefire terms that could lead to a permanent end to the war.

Sources say that the chances of reaching a partial agreement in the next 48 hours are low, but this last-ditch effort is the only chance to prevent an escalation of the war.

The US media report states that the mediators are discussing the terms of a two-phase deal, the first phase will be a possible 45-day ceasefire, during which a permanent end to the war will be discussed.

According to the report, the second phase will be an agreement on the end of the war, if additional time is needed for negotiations, the ceasefire can be extended.

The news agency says the White House and the US State Department have declined to comment on the report.
