ISLAMABAD: Construction costs in Pakistan are continuing to rise as cement prices put pressure on builders, developers and homeowners alike.
According to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement prices saw a further increase last week, especially in the northern regions, raising concerns over the increase in construction budgets.
For April 2025, average cement prices in northern Pakistan reached Rs1,425 per bag.
In Lahore, cement prices in the country are now around Rs1,500 per bag. In other cities, the price is around Rs1,450.
Contractors and real estate developers have warned that the rising cost of cement is directly affecting the overall cost of construction projects. Ahead of the budget, the construction sector is bracing for more challenges, hoping that price fluctuations will not derail growth in one of Pakistan’s most important economic sectors.
