Chicken & egg prices soar in Punjab as cold wave intensifies

LAHORE: Severe cold temperatures have set in across the province as a result of Punjab’s recent winter rains, effectively triggering a rise in chicken meat and egg prices.

Lahore’s market price of chicken meat rose by Rs21 to Rs591 per kilogram from Rs570 the day prior. Similarly, are wholesale prices for live broiler chickens; they have increased by Rs15 to Rs380 for one kilogram, while retails now are at Rs394 per kilogram.

Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold wholesale: Rs. 380
Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 394
Broiler Meat (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 591
Eggs from farms (per packet): Rs. 9750
These prices reflect the current market rates in the poultry industry.
