KARACHI: Yamaha took a cue from Honda and other automobile manufacturers, with a steep price rise across the board for its motorcycles following new taxes proposed in the 2025-26 federal budget, including the introduction of a New Energy Vehicle (NEV) tax on the automotive industry.
The two-wheeler monolith declared a significant hike in prices of its motorbike range as the revision follows new fiscal steps taken in the federal budget of 2025-26, including the imposition of a New Energy Vehicle (NEV) tax on the automotive industry.
With the recent price increase, Yamaha’s YB125Z price shifted to Rs429,000 with an extra Rs4,057 under NEV tax.YB125Z DX is priced at Rs459,500. The company’s flagship YBR125 model now costs Rs471,500.
YBR125G (Black) increases to Rs490,500, while the most expensive variant, the matte-finish YBR125G, costs Rs493,500. Company officials attributed the increase in prices to the new tax regime—more specifically, the NEV levy—and higher operating and import costs as the primary reasons for the price hike.
These changes reflect a larger pattern in the domestic automobile sector as other manufacturers too have risen to cost pressures related to the budget.
The increased prices are bound to put extra financial pressure on buyers, especially in the commuter motorcycle segment, in which Yamaha has a high market share.
This follows a series of price hikes by Yamaha, which is indicative of continued volatility in the auto industry in the face of changing tax policies and economic hardships.
