DG KHAN: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched a ground-breaking school nutrition programme in the province on Thursday. While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the school nutrition programme in DG Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam said that no matter how far DG Khan is from Lahore, ‘I am not far from you, I think for all of you children like a mother thinks, these children are VIPs for me’.
The program, called the “Chief Minister’s School Nutrition Programme,” aims to combat malnutrition among students.
In addition, Maryam Nawaz appreciated the love and respect the students showed towards her. She visited the Government Primary School and personally distributed milk packs to students in every class.
Key Features of the Chief Minister’s School Nutrition Programme
- The program will benefit over 400,000 students in three districts of south Punjab: Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh.
- Students in 3,527 schools will receive a 175-milliliter milk pack daily.
- The milk packs will be distributed in schools, and students will return the empty packs, which will be recycled.
- The revenue generated from recycling the empty packs will be used to fund the respective schools.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, interacted with students, inquired about their well-being, and also allowed the students to get her autograph.
The launch event was attended by senior officials, including the Provincial Education Minister, ministers, and other dignitaries.
This programme is launched to reduce mineral deficiency in children to make their minds and bodies healthy and strong.
