LAHORE: In a recent move, the Punjab Education Department has issued a circular outlining a dress code for all male and female educators in government schools.
According to the new guidelines, males must wear a shalwar kameez or a waistcoat with pants, a shirt, and a tie coat.
Moreover, regular shaving is also essential for male teachers. On the other hand, female teachers are expected to wear a shalwar kameez and a scarf, along with closed shoes that are not transparent.
The circular points out the need to strictly adhere to this dress code, requesting the heads of all schools to make sure it is strictly followed. The circular further reminds the teachers and head teachers that since the last session is in progress, their main priority should be the completion of the syllabus.
Lectures are to be held on a daily basis with special care given to the children. Character building is also a priority along with teaching.
The circular further emphasizes the need for discipline and supervision within schools. During breaks and recess, teachers are expected to ensure that children do not leave the school premises through the main gate.
Furthermore, children should be encouraged to wash their hands after using toilets and washrooms, which should be equipped with basic amenities such as water, towels, and soap.
Finally, the circular requires schools to switch off all the doors, windows, electricity, bulbs, fans, heaters, and water pumps before closing.
