Balochistan govt to operate hospitals through Public-Private Partnerships

THQ hospital rooms reportedly rented for immoral activities, investigation launched

BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan government has announced the transition of 10 public hospitals to public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the initial phase, aiming to enhance healthcare services in the province.

The Health Department has issued a notification to include Trauma Centers in Zhob and Khuzdar in this initiative. The selected hospitals for PPPs include District Headquarters Hospitals in eight districts including Zhob, Panjgur, Kohlu, Pashin, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti, Qalat, and Lasbela.

Similarly, the Punjab government has decided to outsource the management of operation theatres in public hospitals to private companies.

In addition, this initiative aims to upgrade surgical facilities by providing access to advanced equipment, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, endoscopy, and endo-urology devices.

Private medical firms will be responsible for running operation theatres and installing and managing cutting-edge surgical equipment, enhancing medical procedures in public hospitals.
