ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has achieved a milestone with the completion of seven state-of-the-art modular operation theatres. It is the first government medical facility in the country to have such theatres.
The Rs1.4 billion project was approved to enhance the surgical capabilities of the hospital, and the modular theatres were imported from Germany.
It has provided the theaters with all modern medical technologies and facilities, including fully equipped sterilization units, audio-video recording system, and wireless cameras for better handling during the surgical operations. It includes backup batteries during power outage and a temperature control system of medical gases.
The new operation theatres at PIMS would raise the bar of health service delivery at PIMS whose inaugural ceremony whose inaugural ceremony would be performed later this week by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
PIMS, established in 1985, comprises three semi-autonomous hospitals: the Islamabad Hospital, a 592-bed hospital; the 230 Bedded Children‘s Hospital, specializing in pediatric care; and the 125 bedded Maternal & Child Health Care Centre, specializing in obstetrics and gynaecology.
These modular operation theatres mark a great addition to the facilities of the hospital and are likely to be highly beneficial for the patients as well as the medical staff. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and features, the PIMS today is better positioned to extend quality health care to its patients.
