Punjab bans doctors from travelling abroad: Here’s why!

PHQ Hospital Gilgit issues show-cause notice to Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Ayub

LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has barred the heads of all government hospitals from granting leave to doctors willing to travel abroad.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Health Department, all such requests will now require prior approval from the Chief Minister.

According to the new policy, doctors serving in government hospitals will have to submit their leave requests at least a month in advance if they want to travel abroad. The final decision on such requests will be taken by the Chief Minister alone.

The notification emphasizes that no hospital administrator, medical superintendent, or principal will be allowed to approve or forward such leave requests without going through proper channels.
