KARACHI: A US woman, Onya Andrew, traveling to Karachi after falling in love with a 19-year-old boy, has been causing a scene for not wanting to leave Pakistan.
Onya Andrew was found distressed because she had to face an immigration issue after first refusing to clear the immigration counter and later sacredly abstaining from flight boarding at the departure lounge.
The lady got fascinated by tennis player Nadal Meman-a resident of Karachi’s Garden area-via social media, was making excuses for extending her departure. Although she is mother of two, she flew to Karachi on October 11, but her plans to marry Nadal Meman were dashed by his family.
It became hard for Onya Andrew to leave since her return ticket expired with her visit visa. Airport police, joined by Airport Security Force (ASF), took her into custody after she made another courageous attempt to leave Karachi.
She was then rushed to an NGO that provided her with a return ticket and some financial assistance. She was treated for cold and flu symptoms at the airport emergency clinic.
A joint team of airport police and security personnel later took Onya Andrew into protective custody and escorted her to the departure lounge.
It had taken 36 minutes for the pilot to make his departure because of Onya’s drama. Due to scurity protocols any passenger cannot be forced onto a flight, which put the authorities in a deadlock situation because of her unwillingness to depart.
