The Iranian Missile Attack Israel intensified as multiple explosions struck central areas, including Haifa, late Sunday night. According to Israeli authorities, attacks were launched from Lebanon and Iran, causing serious damage and casualties.
In Haifa, rescue teams recovered four bodies from the rubble of a heavily damaged building. The structure was hit by a ballistic missile, leading to partial collapse and a long rescue operation.
Officials said the recovery effort lasted several hours. Two victims were found earlier, while the bodies of a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were later retrieved. The final body was recovered nearly 18 hours after the attack.
Initial reports suggested four people were missing. Authorities confirmed the building suffered major structural damage and was at risk of further collapse, making rescue work difficult.
Investigators revealed that the missile’s warhead, carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives, did not detonate on impact. However, the high-speed impact caused severe structural destruction due to kinetic force, leading to multiple floors collapsing.
Rescue officials warned that if the warhead had exploded, the destruction could have been far worse, potentially damaging nearby buildings as well.
The Israeli military stated that the missile broke apart mid-air, which altered its trajectory. This reportedly made it harder for air defense systems to intercept it.
A second attack occurred Monday morning in the same area. This time, a missile with a cluster warhead was used, injuring four people. Several smaller explosions were also reported in nearby locations, damaging vehicles and causing fires.
Since February 28, Iran has reportedly launched over 500 ballistic missiles toward Israel. Some of these missiles landed in populated areas, resulting in at least 18 deaths so far.
Rescue authorities said many residents survived because they were inside bomb shelters. Those who died were reportedly not in protected rooms at the time of the attacks.
Israeli media reported that continuous attacks from different directions are putting pressure on the country’s defense system. Interceptor systems require time to reload, which affects response speed.
Emergency teams and security forces are currently active in affected areas, including Ramat Gan, Givatayim, and Bnei Brak, assessing damage and assisting residents.
