The US Iran ceasefire has been widely welcomed across the world, with global leaders urging all sides to follow international law and ensure lasting peace. The agreement, announced amid rising tensions in the Middle East, aims to reduce conflict and open the door for diplomatic solutions.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres praised the development. He called on all parties to respect international laws and fully implement the ceasefire terms. He stressed that lasting peace in the Middle East depends on strict compliance with the agreement.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen thanked Pakistan for its role in mediation. She emphasized that continued dialogue is essential to reach a sustainable solution and said cooperation with global partners will continue.
Turkey also urged all sides to respect the ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the need for long-term peace in the region. He suggested turning Iran’s proposed 10-point plan into a comprehensive peace agreement that could bring stability not only to Iran but also to Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.
Keir Starmer said the ceasefire would bring relief to both the region and the wider world. The United Kingdom government also announced that Starmer will visit the Middle East to meet allies and discuss keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Emmanuel Macron described the ceasefire announcement as positive but stressed the need for full compliance. He added that the situation in Lebanon remains concerning and should be included in broader peace efforts.
Pedro Sánchez criticized those who escalate conflicts and later attempt to resolve them, calling for more responsible global leadership.
Germany also welcomed the development. Officials said the ceasefire should be the first step toward lasting peace. The German government thanked Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts and emphasized the importance of continued negotiations to fully end the conflict.
Oman, Indonesia, and other countries also supported the ceasefire. Indonesia’s foreign ministry urged respect for sovereignty and diplomacy. It also called on the United Nations to investigate the deaths of peacekeepers.
Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev said the ceasefire reflects rational decision-making. However, he warned that global oil prices may not return to previous lower levels.
