ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that there is currently “no degradation of internet services” across the country after the issue has been addressed.
In a brief statement issued on Saturday, the telecom authority announced that an ad hoc bandwidth has been incorporated into the system after the fault in the submarine cable AAE-1 on January 2, 2025.
The statement added that PTA is continuously “monitoring the restoration process of the AAE-1 submarine cable” and is committed to ensuring the functionality of all services during this period.
Earlier this week, the telecom watchdog revealed that the recent fault developed in the submarine cable network AAE-1 may lead to internet disruption in the country.
The fault was reported in the submarine cable AAE-1 (Asia-Africa-Europe-1) near Qatar — one of the seven international undersea cables connecting Pakistan for international internet traffic.
