LAHORE: Former Finance Minister and PTI leader Asad Umar was shifted to a hospital after his health worsened during his appearance at an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore.
According to Umar’s lawyer, he felt heart-related suffocation while present in the courtroom on Tuesday. Umar was swiftly carried by lawyers and court staff from the courtroom to a vehicle outside the ATC gate.
He was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology accompanied by PTI leader Zain Qureshi. The former minister’s condition was reported as stable, with doctors stating he had experienced low blood pressure. His ECG test results were reportedly normal.
Earlier in June, Asad Umar was taken to a hospital in Karachi due to back issues. He was moved to the hospital via Sindh Rescue Ambulance Service 1122 which he lauded as it reached within 5 minutes after receiving a call.
He’s been facing several charges, including vandalism and the cipher case, related to the May 9 violence. He had stepped down from the post of PTI secretary general around two weeks after the riots on May 9, 2023.
