Aviation Ministry initiates investigation against corruption in CAA

CAA officers seek departmental promotions amid delays

ISLAMABAD: The Aviation Ministry initiated an investigation into alleged corruption involving officials within the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This decision follows multiple complaints about corruption within the CAA.

The investigation will scrutinize direct recruitment practices in the CAA, particularly in the Flight Standards and SQMS departments, where it is alleged that merit was disregarded during hiring.

There are claims that the recruitment process for positions such as Aero-Medical Directors, Additional Directors, Assistant Directors, and various staff roles did not adhere to merit-based criteria.

Complaints about these issues were directed to the HR department of the Aviation Ministry.

In response, senior Aviation Ministry officials have committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into these allegations and addressing any identified issues.

In a related development, CAA employees have requested a salary increase due to the new tax slab introduced in the Budget 2024-25.

The CAA employees union sent a letter to the Director of Human Resources demanding salary adjustments in line with the new tax rates. They also raised concerns about the non-payment of Eid bonuses and inadequate salary adjustments.
