ISLAMABAD: The former first lady Bushra Bibi will now co-lead the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) convoy with Ali Amin Gandapur, although initially, the Chief Minister Gandapur was announced to be the sole leader.
Earlier, PTI leader and KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur had dissuaded her from joining, citing the already critical situation facing the party.
However, sources have reported that Bushra Bibi is insisting on leading, which is a cause for friction within the party ranks. Reportedly, Gandapur argued, “The founding leader of the party says you do not have to come in politics,” and even urged Bushra Bibi to remain at home while he led the convoy.
There are already enough difficulties for us, Gandapur reportedly said, stressing the need to avoid any mistake at this critical juncture. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi remained firm on her stand, insisting that she was following the instructions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Sources revealed that the disagreement led to a heated argument between Gandapur and Bushra Bibi.
“I am following Khan sahib’s orders,” the two leaders said during their exchange. The failure to resolve these differences and the ongoing logistical hurdles are raising concerns about the party’s ability to effectively organize its protest efforts.
Observers believe that after several setbacks, the PTI cannot afford another setback, making internal coordination all the more important at this time.
Due to this internal tussle for power, the convoy is stuck in Peshawar, causing a severe obstacle to PTI’s plans during the protests in Pakistan.
In response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad, the authority has wanted to seal off completely all entrances and exit points of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
