ISLAMABAD: Islamabad tightens its crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles as the authorities expand test points and intensify enforcement all over the city.
In the past four days, the Islamabad Transport Authority conducted emission checks on 1,563 vehicles and issued clearance stickers to all compliant owners.
Emission Testing Points Activated Across the Capital
He informed that the Deputy Commissioner said that the crackdown would continue with full force. Due to rising air pollution in the city, the administration has established multiple vehicle emission testing points for citizen convenience. Moreover, the points make inspections easier and faster.
This means that motorists can now go to the nearest facility and undergo the necessary check without much delay.
Officials said another 334 vehicles alone passed inspection in the last 24 hours and received clearance stickers. The Transport Authority has moved more staff to busy sites since the public response has been on the rise.
Vehicles Causing Pollution Shifted to Police Stations
The Islamabad Transport Authority shifted several smoke-emitting vehicles to the police stations. Since such vehicles directly contribute to air pollution, strict action is being taken.
Moreover, no recommendation or exemption will be accepted in these operations, the Deputy Commissioner warned. As a result, violators will have to pay fines, and further action will be taken as per the law.
Help Desk Activated for Public Guidance
Transport Authority, for citizens’ convenience, has activated an information help desk. Since many motorists are still seeking clarity over the process, the desk will explain specifics about testing points, documentation, and inspection rules.
It will also assist citizens on how to reduce emissions and maintain their engines properly. The administration thus hopes to raise better compliance levels along with greater public awareness.
Authorities Call on People to Undergo Compulsory Check-up
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon called for all motorists to get their vehicles tested at the nearest point. As the campaign is meant for public health protection, he asked the citizens to cooperate. Moreover, timely inspection will reduce pollution and improve the overall air quality in Islamabad.
