MAINWALI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a major terrorist attack, killing three terrorists in an exchange of fire, and six others managed to escape near Rahmani Khel Mor on Thursday, according to media reports.
This was an intelligence-based operation carried out by the CTD to apprehend the militants; however, a fierce exchange of fire resulted in the killing of three militants, according to the spokesperson of the CTD.
The authorities confirmed that the militants were plotting attacks on the police checkpost in the city, which the CTD now foils.
Police have established a check post in Rahmani Khel Mor area of Mianwali.
Authorities recovered rifles, three hand grenades, ammunition, and explosive materials from the site. A search operation is underway to trace and arrest the fleeing militants. CTD teams have also established checkpoints near Rahmani Khel Mor.
Earlier, three terrorists of Fitna-ul-Khawarij were arrested in Karachi on Thursday in a joint operation by Pakistan Rangers Sindh and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
The terrorists have been identified as Naimatullah alias Abid, Muhammad Noor alias Mani, and Sabirullah alias Daniyal, who were traced from the Mehran Town area of Korangi.
A large number of arms, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from their possession.
Authorities claimed that they wanted to use the arms and explosives during planned terrorist acts, target killings, and extortion in Karachi.
