Free cows & buffaloes to be provided to women in 12 Punjab districts

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced a Rs10 million. Rs2 billion livestock distribution program to help widows and poor women in South Punjab.

In the first phase of this initiative, about 4,870 cows and buffaloes will be given to about 11,000 women in twelve districts. The aim is to empower them economically by activating small-scale businesses like milk sales or cattle rearing.

Beneficiaries from districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addo, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur will get free cattle.

Widows and divorced women aged 55 and above can apply for this program using a mobile application from the comfort of their homes. They can also contact the Chief Minister Help Desk set up in veterinary hospitals for assistance.

Addressing the event, Maryam Nawaz said that we want to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, a woman living in a village deserves the same opportunities as a woman living in a city.

She added that every woman has the fundamental right to access education, healthcare and employment, no matter where she lives.
