KARACHI: After a severe shortage of petroleum products and record price hikes in Pakistan, a ray of relief has emerged as fuel-laden ships begin arriving at Port Qasim.
According to port authorities, the gas oil tanker MT Torum Damini has anchored at the Futco terminal at Port Qasim. Another vessel, MT Nav Atropos, has also reached the port carrying 50,000 metric tons of petrol.
Meanwhile, MT Spruce 2 is expected to arrive later today with 55,000 tons of petrol, while MTC Clipper will reach the port at 12 noon on March 11 with an additional 34,000 tons.
A spokesperson for Port Qasim said the ship arriving from Fujairah has already reached the port and more vessels are expected in the coming days.
On the other hand, Ali Pervaiz Malik said the arrival of these ships is expected to stabilize the supply chain and ease the shortage of petroleum products in the country.
