Govt simplifies visa process for Pakistanis

Pakistani passport holders get visa-free access to around 30 countries

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has unveiled a plan to make things easier and more open regarding the visa process for the citizens of Pakistan. A six-member committee was created by the federal cabinet to look into the visa clearance system, and the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, was made its chairman.

The committee consists of the interior, finance, and climate change ministers, and the secretaries of law and interior. The Interior Ministry will assist with the secretarial work.

The committee will propose its recommendations in 14 days. By and large, the officials said, the main aim is to make the visa application process easier, quicker, and more secure.

This move comes as a result of the endorsement of a new visa clearance system that is intended to speed up the processing time, thwart the use of fake travel documents, and make the organization of international immigration more compliant.

Government sources pointed out that the reforms are aimed at illegal migration and improving the transparency of Pakistan’s visa system.
