AHMEDABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Afghan cricketer Mohammad Nabi for violating the code of conduct during the match against South Africa.
According to a statement issued by the ICC, Mohammad Nabi has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for violating the code of conduct during the match against South Africa in Group D of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the start of the 14th over of Afghanistan’s innings during the match against South Africa, when Mohammad Nabi had a lengthy argument with the umpires over the wristband of South African bowler Lungi Ngidi.
Mohammad Nabi was found guilty of breaching Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with disobeying the instructions of an umpire during an international match.
In addition, one demerit point has been added to Mohammad Nabi’s disciplinary record.
According to the ICC, Mohammad Nabi admitted his mistake and accepted the punishment recommended by the match referee, which did not necessitate a formal hearing.
