ISLAMABAD: The inquiry report of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Islamabad Adeel Akbar’s alleged suicide has been completed and is likely to be issued today, sources said.
According to the report, the inquiry was completed by an inquiry committee comprising DIG Headquarters, DIG Islamabad, DIG Security, and AIG Legal.
Earlier, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry said that an inquiry committee was constituted after consultation with the federal interior minister.
As per sources, the committee investigated all aspects of suicide, accidental death, and murder.
The police sources confirmed that the statements of Akbar’s operator and driver were also recorded separately. No contradiction was found in the statements of the operator and driver, it said.
Adeel Akbar’s physician was also investigated, and the medicines were also found.
The inquiry committee learned that before the incident, SP Adeel Akbar was going to the Establishment Division and spoke to the officer of the district administration.
It was learned that SP Adeel Akbar had been suffering from depression since 2023. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Balochistan prepared Akbar’s negative Annual Confidential Report (ACR)
Another officer had also prepared a special report against Adeel Akbar, which was sent to the Establishment Division instead of the department, the source added.
